About us

Welcome to G & A's Desert Doodles. My name is Kelly, I am the mom to Gianna and Apollo. My family and I are a small breeder who prides ourselves on loving, desensitizing, and socializing the puppies before they find their forever home. We specialize in Portidoodles, a designer breed between a Standard Poodle and a Portuguese Water Dog. We are located in the South East part of Arizona, however, I was born and raised in Northern Arizona. I am a mom to 4 amazing kids and 7 incredible grandbabies. The most important part of my life is serving and praising the Lord while serving others.

I come from a small town and grew up around animals of all kinds. I found a love for dogs specifically when I first met my childhood dog, Kahlua. She was the epitome of love and loyalty. Kahlua, would walk me out of the house to my bus stop every morning and wait for me to return home from school. As I grew older I was around raccoons, birds, horses, rabbits, and many dogs. My love for people and animals has and will continue to grow. This love of animals has become a huge part of my life, I am overjoyed to now be able to bless families with the same experience and love with their new fur babies.

Lifetime Support

Here at G & A's Desert Doodles, we are committed to loving, nurturing, and taking the best care of Gianna & Apollo (mom & dad), our puppies, the families adopting our puppies, and the success of making it a smooth and enjoyable process from start to forever. Our health guarantee is 1 year, however, when you adopt a puppy from us, you become a part of the family. If you have any questions, concerns, need guidance, or are willing to share a story about your puppy; I am always a text or call away. I would love for you to stay in touch, as it helps us grow a community of people who have the rare and beautiful designer breed of the Portidoodle. We don't like "goodbyes" around here, so we like to say we will see and talk to you soon. We have come to love your puppy as much as you, and look forward to seeing the amazing things your fur baby will get to do with you as a family. We are proud to be a lifetime supporter and are happy to welcome you to the G & A's Desert Doodle family!

Blessings from our family to yours,

                                                                                 Kelly

Our Dedication

Here at G & A's Desert Doodles we are dedicated to our puppies and our adopting families. Each puppy is planned and a blessing. We are a small breeder with only one mom and one dad to the puppies. Mom and Dad are health tested, genetic tested, and papered. I went through lots of research before I even adopted Gianna and Apollo. I wanted to ensure our future families were going to gain the most amazing companion with the absolute best qualities and characteristics. From the tie, whelping, training, and upbringing of the puppy; you can see how well loved and cared for your puppy is.

Birthing Process

We first ensure Gianna is healthy and ready for the stages of pregnancy before she ever becomes pregnant. As previously mentioned each of our litters is planned and a blessing; not just for our family, but also for the puppies future families. Once we know Gianna is pregnant she is given the mama pampering treatment! She is placed in her stress-free special area where she gets constant water, food, and affection 24/7.
As we get closer to the delivery of the puppies I sleep close to the area so I can keep watch and listen to any possible signs of labor. The day or night of delivery Gianna is not left alone. I am right there assisting and helping her in every step. Once all of the puppies have been delivered, mama is watched carefully from the moment she has them until they find their forever families.

Gianna is a phenomenal mama to her babies. She loves giving her babies affection, takes careful consideration when cleaning and does a great job showing the puppies what to do as they get bigger.

Puppy Stimulation

Puppies are quick learners. the first signs of stimulation are introduced by only myself for the first week or two of their lives. At the second week the puppies are introduced to being held and loved on. This will help with the bonding process as the puppies grow. From the day they are born the puppies are in my home and around sounds that occur in everyday households. Being surrounded by this stimulation helps your puppy's brain development.
Once the puppies have opened their eyes (around week 3), they are introduced to toys and fabrics with different textures.

Gianna is with the puppies for the first 6 weeks of their life to show them other stimulations that only a mama can show. This stimulation is called early neurological stimulation (ENS).

Training

Our puppies go through a few different trainings. However, the training even starts with the stimulations. A puppy has to learn how to trust, starting with the holding and cuddling the puppies receive from around 2 weeks of age. Once the puppies are able to we help introduce potty training, simple commands like (sit, stay, or lay down). At 5 weeks we start introducing the puppies to baths and leash training. The puppies are then introduced to children of all ages to help them learn how to behave. Around 6 weeks we introduce the puppies to other animals as well. We want to equip our puppies with the best social skills.  It is important to us that your puppy is clean, loved, and skilled or learning skills that they will need as they grow and adapt to new circumstances or environments.

Preparing to be Adopted

We want to ensure our future families have everything they need as they welcome a new companion into their home. Prior to going home the puppies will undergo microchipping, a minimum of their first vaccines (sometimes more, depending on the age of the puppy when it goes home), vet health check, a health record, an individualized puppy pedigree chart, deworming medication (starts at week 4), individual paperwork for each puppy (pedigree chart, shot record, information about the parents, purchase agreement, microchip information, vet health information, and all special notes regarding each puppy), progression photos of the puppies (we start at the day they are born and each week leading up to going home), I also offer 4 free haircut and grooming services to the puppies, and we have lifetime support for our adopting families.

On top of all the logistics, the puppies are sent home with: a new set of bowls, a baggie of food, a blanket, a hairbrush, and a brand-new collar and leash.
